Within the surgery environment Infection Prevention & Control is of vital concern, all furniture and fittings must be purchased with this in mind.

Hand Hygiene this is the single most important measure in reducing infection. Surgeries should include HTM64 sinks, taps, soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers and alcohol based hand rub within a single area close to where the patient is treated.
Waste Disposal hand free operated bins separated domestic waste and clinical waste.
Worktop Surfaces should be chosen with ease of cleaning in mind the working areas should be easily maintained and uncluttered.
Lighting artificial lighting which is easily controlled and can provide low levels of light are required. The need for an examination lamp depends on the type of work carried out.
Treatment Couch should be variable height and easy to clean, preferably including anti-bacterial material finishes.
