The decision to have a retail area and size of that retail area are largely dependent on client base and demographics. A very busy town/city pharmacy whose clients largely use the pharmacy for dispensary purposes may choose to have a smaller retail area. Alternatively a suburban/rural pharmacy with fewer clients, but less competition from other shops may opt to increase retail areas proportionate to size of outlet.
